St. Moore Insurance ("St. Moore Insurance," "we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting the personal information you share with us. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard personal information when you visit stmooreinsurance.com (the "Site"), request a quote, apply for coverage, or otherwise communicate with us.
By using the Site or submitting information through it, you agree to the practices described in this Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.
1. Information We Collect
We collect personal information in three ways.
Information you provide directly. When you request a quote, submit a contact form, apply for coverage, or communicate with us, you may provide information such as your name, email address, phone number, and mailing address. Because we place insurance across multiple lines, an application or quote request may also involve additional information necessary for underwriting, which can include your date of birth, driver's license number, vehicle information, property details, business and payroll information for workers' compensation, prior insurance and claims history, and, where required to place coverage, government identifiers such as a Social Security number or tax identification number. Certain lines, such as life and group medical, may involve health-related information. Some of this qualifies as sensitive personal information under California law, and we handle it accordingly (see Section 5 and Section 6).
Information collected automatically. When you visit the Site, we and our service providers may automatically collect technical information such as your IP address, browser type, device information, pages viewed, links clicked, referring website, and the dates and times of your visits. We collect this information using cookies and similar technologies (see Section 4).
Information from third parties. In the course of preparing quotes and placing coverage, we may receive information about you from insurance carriers and underwriters, consumer and specialty reporting agencies, data verification providers, our affiliates, lead sources, and publicly available records.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Respond to your inquiries and provide the information or service you request.
- Prepare insurance quotes and submit applications to insurance carriers and underwriters on your behalf.
- Place, service, and administer insurance policies, and assist with claims coordination.
- Communicate with you about your quote, application, or policy, including by phone, text message, and email.
- Send marketing and informational communications where permitted, from which you may opt out at any time.
- Operate, maintain, secure, and improve the Site.
- Detect, prevent, and address fraud, security issues, and misuse.
- Comply with our legal, regulatory, licensing, and recordkeeping obligations.
3. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information for money. We share personal information only as described below.
- Insurance carriers, underwriters, and wholesale brokers. To obtain quotes and place and service coverage, we share the information necessary to underwrite and issue the policies you request.
- Affiliates. We may share information with our affiliated organizations, including Renaissance Insurance Group, in connection with the services we provide. [Confirm affiliate-sharing arrangement before publishing.]
- Service providers. We share information with vendors who perform services on our behalf, such as website hosting, customer relationship management, email delivery, analytics, and advertising. These providers are permitted to use the information only to perform services for us.
- Legal and regulatory disclosures. We may disclose information when required by law or regulation, in response to lawful requests from public authorities including the California Department of Insurance, to protect our rights or the safety of others, or to enforce our agreements.
- Business transfers. If St. Moore Insurance is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
4. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
The Site uses cookies and similar technologies to function properly, remember your preferences, understand how the Site is used, and support our marketing. These generally fall into three categories: essential cookies required for the Site to operate, analytics cookies that help us measure and improve performance, and advertising cookies that support marketing and remarketing.
You can control cookies through your browser settings, including blocking or deleting them, though some features of the Site may not function properly as a result.
Global Privacy Control. Where required by law, we treat a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal from your browser as a request to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information for the browser and device from which it is sent.
5. Nonpublic Personal Information and the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act
Because St. Moore Insurance is a licensed insurance agency, certain nonpublic personal financial information you provide in connection with obtaining or servicing insurance is governed by the federal Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA) and the California Insurance Information and Privacy Protection Act (California Insurance Code Section 791 and following). We handle that information in accordance with those laws and with any separate privacy notice that we or the applicable insurance carrier provide to you.
Where information is governed by GLBA and applicable insurance privacy laws, those laws control, and certain rights described in Section 6 may not apply to that information.
6. Your California Privacy Rights
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, gives you the following rights regarding personal information that is not otherwise exempt:
- Right to know and access the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you, the sources, the purposes for collecting it, and the categories of third parties with whom we share it.
- Right to delete personal information we have collected from you, subject to legal exceptions.
- Right to correct inaccurate personal information we maintain about you.
- Right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, including sharing for cross-context behavioral advertising.
- Right to limit the use and disclosure of sensitive personal information to what is necessary to provide the services you request.
- Right to non-discrimination for exercising any of these rights.
The categories of personal information we may collect are described in Section 1 and include identifiers, contact information, financial and insurance information, and, for certain lines of coverage, sensitive personal information.
How to exercise your rights. You may submit a request by emailing info@stmooreinsurance.com, or writing to the address in Section 14. We will verify your request by confirming information we already maintain about you. You may use an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf, subject to proof of authorization.
Information that is regulated by the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, the California Insurance Information and Privacy Protection Act, or other applicable exemptions may be excluded from some of these rights.
7. Other State Privacy Rights
We write insurance in all 50 states. If you reside in a state with a comprehensive consumer privacy law, you may have rights similar to those described in Section 6, such as the right to access, correct, delete, or opt out of certain processing of your personal information. To exercise any such right, please contact us using the information in Section 14.
8. Communications Consent
By providing your telephone number and submitting a quote request or contact form, you consent to be contacted by St. Moore Insurance by phone, text message, and email regarding your inquiry, including through automated technology. Consent is not a condition of purchasing any product or service. Message and data rates may apply, and message frequency may vary. You may reply STOP to opt out of text messages or contact us at any time to opt out of marketing communications.
9. Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this Policy, to provide and service insurance coverage, and to comply with our legal, regulatory, underwriting, and recordkeeping obligations. When information is no longer required, we take reasonable steps to delete or de-identify it.
10. Data Security
We maintain reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, use, alteration, and disclosure. No method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. Third-Party Links
The Site may contain links to third-party websites, including insurance carriers and partners. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those websites, and we encourage you to review their privacy policies before providing any information.
12. Children's Privacy
The Site is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. If we make material changes, we will provide a more prominent notice as required by applicable law. Your continued use of the Site after an update indicates your acceptance of the revised Policy.
